The purpose of the program was to help PCOs better understand state regulations and thereby reduce the risk of being cited, fined or suspended. Another goal of the seminar was to forge a better working relationship between the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) and the people they regulate. Acknowledging the value of the program and understanding that Bug Off Pest Control Center’s goal is to ensure that PCOs be well informed, act professionally and present a positive image for the industry, the DEC representative noted that Bug Off’s efforts in the fields of education and technical support are “an asset to the industry.”
